Kingdom Hearts 3: 10 Best Mods For The Game (& How To Install Them)
The entirety of Kingdom Hearts recently released on PC for the first time. This was something PC gamers have been waiting for since the series debuted on PS2 in 2002, perhaps because hardcore PC fans out there didn’t want to buy consoles just for this series alone.

Meanwhile, others just wanted to jump into these worlds and create havoc through the power of mods. Barely over a month since these games launched, the mod support is already huge. Let’s take a look at some of the cool and weird examples for Kingdom Hearts III specifically. Each link through Nexus Mods has an easy-to-read explanation of how to install them.
This Kingdom Hearts III mod was put onto Nexus Mods by Luseu. It has the power to duplicate any character in the game from low level Heartless to Organization XIII members. Players can even swap out who they play as. Other variations of this mod are available, but this seems to be the most popular one on the boards right now.
As depicted in the demo picture, players could even train against an endless horde. Players might need a beefy PC to maximize this mod’s potential, without reducing the game to a single frame per second.
9 Ultima Model Swap To X-Blade
This Kingdom Hearts III mod comes from NexusMods user TalesFreak. There are many weapon mods for Sora’s Keyblade such as other Keyblades from the series, Captain America’s shield, Thor’s hammer, and so on.
The one that sticks out the most is the X-Blade which is what Master Xehanort has been wishing for for the entire series. It’s bulky to wield, but also looks cool as all get out.
8 Smores' Thomas The Train
NexusMods user Smores gives players this next entry. It’s a simple mod that replaces the tram in Twilight Town with Thomas the Tank engine.
Thomas has been used in a countless amount of mods, usually on the creepier side of things like replacing Mr. X in Resident Evil 2’s remake. This mod makes him seem more natural a fit in the game's world though.
7 Drip Sora
This Kingdom Hearts III mod comes to fans courtesy of NexusMods user Junior. There are two distinct features in this mod. First of all, Sora is dressed like a street hoodlum from the 90s, making him look like he fits in with Roxas’ gang.

The other change is his Keyblade, which looks like the sword from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It’s a simple clothing mod, but is still pretty funny to see, especially in battle.
6 KH2 Cloud Over Sora
This Kingdom Hearts III mod was created by DaniZaya. It replaces Sora with the Kingdom Hearts II model of Cloud, aka the one from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
There are many variations to this mod, including replacing the boy wonder with Roxas, Aqua, Axel, and so many others. Cloud, though, seemed like both the coolest and funniest character to highlight. Imagining him interacting with Disney characters is a riot.
5 Yu-Gi-Oh Cards
This Kingdom Hearts III mod comes to NexusMods thanks to DemurerFire. This mod replaces Luxord’s cards with Yu-Gi-Oh cards instead.
This is another example of a mod with tons of variations, including Pokemon cards, Uno, and gift cards like for Apple or Fortnite points. Sticking with Yu-Gi-Oh is a good choice, in that one can imagine Luxord trying to summon Exodia which is indeed in the mod.
4 Basic Noclip
This Kingdom Hearts III mod was put onto NexusMods by Grep. To quote the modder, “This is very buggy and slow, please do not keep this on between map loads.”
As the name implies, this allows players to soar out of bounds in order to clip through walls and explore what Square Enix put in this game. There’s a mod like this for seemingly every game out there, and even though this one is buggy right now, presumably it will get better with time.
3 Comically Large Frying Pan
This Kingdom Hearts III comes from NexusMods user SputnikMan. It’s another weapon mod that was too hard to resist. The idea of Sora using a frying pan as a weapon is already pretty funny. This is presumably the same one Rapunzel uses.

The idea of him using a giant that makes the joke even better. It may not be as cool as using Cloud’s Buster Sword or whatever else is out there, but it is a fun showpiece for the mod community to say the least.
2 Classic Caribbean BGM
This Kingdom Hearts III mod was created by NexusMods user Saro. It replaces the music in the Pirates of the Caribbean world with the music from that world in Kingdom Hearts II. Specifically, it is the redone version found in the HD collections.
The music is great in Kingdom Hearts III, but the original score is a better reflection of the film on which it is based is better, making this mod a must for longtime fans of the series. “He’s a Pirate” is an all time number one jam.
1 Copyright Screen Skip
This Kingdom Hearts III comes from NexusMods user Chillaxel. The title should be self-explanatory: it skips all of the logos before the title screen. There are far too many of these to go through before starting up.
It’s understandable why they are there as there are so many properties represented and they all need legal clarifications. However, Kingdom Hearts III is by far the worst offender. Install this mod to hack and slash all that much more faster in the game.

The Kingdom Hearts PC Mods are Insane, Beautiful Madness
As with most games that receive a port to the PC, Kingdom Hearts has been getting a fair amount of attention from the modding community. I recently spoke about a mod that allows you to battle with Mario as Link in Kingdom Hearts III which made me curious as to what other mods where out there. Rest assured that I fell deep into that rabbit hole. With the whole series of Kingdom Hearts games finally coming to PC back at the end of March, the mods have been coming in thick and fast for the series so let’s take a look at some of the bizarre creations to come out of Kingdom Hearts’s transition to the PC.
Luxord’s boss battle in Kingdom Hearts III is all about that card play, seeing as he is the Gambler of Fate within Organization XIII. His whole spiel is forcing his opponents into games and punishing them if they do not abide by the rules. One particular mod for Kingdom Hearts III on PC focuses on Luxord’s fight and switches out his cards- which play a huge role in the battle- to Yu-Gi-Oh cards for…reasons? It’s a pretty funny concept from creator DemurerFire who uploaded the mod onto Nexus Mods.
Not a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh? Then have no fear because DemurerFire has got you covered with a Uno Card version of the same mod for Luxord’s boss battle. Now you can truly Uno Reverse in style. Please make a Pokémon card one next!
We all know that Shrek is both love and life so why not mod him into a Kingdom Hearts game? This mod comes from Twitter user Luciana Ciccariello- @xeeynamo– and it replaces Beast from Kingdom Hearts II with our lord and saviour Shrek. The prophecy has well and truly been fulfilled.
This mod from calebsmores on Nexus Mods takes everyone’s favourite sentient train and sneaks him into Kingdom Hearts II (so many of these mods are for the second game). If you’ve played the second Kingdom Hearts game then you may remember a random tram that does the rounds in Twilight Town. Well now you can replace that boring and non plus tram with the stunning and beautiful Thomas the Tank Engine because how could you not love Thomas the Tank Engine. One of my absolute favourite mods of all time is the one that replaces dragons in Skyrim with the trains from Thomas the Tank Engine so I am all for this one.
For when you’d rather be playing Minecraft but are playing Kingdom Hearts instead, this mod- another one over on Nexus Mods- from junior0438 who is also junior++ on Twitter, the creator of that Link and Mario Kingdom Hearts mod- replaces the Kingdom Key weapon with a Minecraft Diamond Sword. Oddly enough, the Diamond Sword kind of works well when put into the game. I know it’s not a Disney property but it kind of makes me want to see a Minecraft world for next Kingdom Hearts. Make it happen.
Diamond Swords are one thing but what if you had a comically large frying pan instead? That is literally what this next mod is, entitled “Comically Large Frying Pan” from SputnikMan123 on Nexus Mods. I mean, there isn’t much to say except that it’s large. Comically so. I need it in my life.
Junior ++ is at it again with this mod. It isn’t quite finished yet but junior gave us a sneak peek on their Twitter of a mod that replaces Sora with a Lego figure. Again, this really shouldn’t work as well as it does. I hope junior manages to mod Sora’s spiky hair onto the Lego man just to finish off the look.
Okay so finally, this one isn’t weird or bizarre but it is entirely necessary. If you’ve played Kingdom Hearts III then you’ll probably remember the constant- and I mean CONSTANT- repetition of certain lines and phrases from the characters, such as Donald Ducks highly frustrating, “This might be a good spot to find some ingredients!” I KNOW DONALD, I KNOW KINDLY SHUT YOUR DAMN BEAK. Well this mod- aptly named “No More Ingredients” by Nexus Mods user NormieMods removes those repetitive lines, both the ingredients one and the lines that are used over and over again whenever you discover an emblem. I think we can all agree that NormieMods is the hero that we need but not the one that we deserve.
Have a look through all sorts of Kingdom Hearts mods for yourself over on the Kingdom Hearts tag on Nexus Mods.

As with almost every game that makes the jump to PC, players have got their hands on the code and have created some of the most interesting modifications to come to the series. Kingdom Hearts 3 has been one of the most heavily anticipated games in history. The last mainline numbered title released back in 2006 in North America, an entire 13 years of waiting to see this saga's epic conclusion. Many titles have release in-between, providing more context, lore, and characters for fans to fall in love with. Now with mods, players are able to make some of their biggest story and gameplay changes a reality. Here are some of the best mods released for Kingdom Hearts 3.
The Best Mods For Kingdom Hearts 3
Whether it's for gameplay content or memes, here are some of the best mods available for Kingdom Hearts 3.
- ReMind Ability Integration: This mod was developed by Explode and unlocks the DLC abilities throughout the main story instead of all-at-once. This is a great way to experience the game and naturally progress, making Sora stronger throughout each world. The ReMind abilities are some of the best in the game.
- Copyright Screen Skip: This mod was developed by Chillaxel and just removes the Disney and Square Enix copyright information right at the start of the game. This will save players tons of time every time they boot up the game.
- C-Mod Menu: This mod was developed by Criticp and allows players to do tons of different things. Change to a different playable character, spawn enemies and party members, and so much more. Players can walk about with 100 Mike Wawozki's if their PC can handle it.
- Remove Wall Effects: This mod was developed by 13thVessel and removes the glittery effect the game offers with its climbable walls. These can be distracting and this mod just makes them look like the rest of the environments.
- No More Ingredients: This mod was developed by Normie and stops Donald and Goofy from pointing out every ingredient they encounter. They do this so much in the base game. Thank goodness.
- Thomas The Tank Engine Mod: This mod was developed by Smores and turns the Twilight Town tram into Thomas The Tank Engine. That is a real thing that exists and it's wonderful.
This is just the cream of the crop but more mods are being developed as the days go by. The Kingdom Hearts community is dedicated and one of the most passionate groups of fans out there. Hopefully, someone can mod the rest of Twilight Town back into the game. Please.
